Salsa Bar!

salsa bar

Spice up your wedding, literally, with a salsa bar! Treat your guests to a lovely display of chips and various salsas. Place the chips in beautiful tall glass containers. Have a variety of salsas out to please every guest. Make sure you label the salsas as mild, medium, or hot, because you don’t want the flower girl dashing for the drink station! This is a great appetizer or a late night snack for your guests to enjoy after all of their dancing. Another option is to have this station out the whole night and let your guests munch the entire evening!

Variety is Key for 2008

cake

When I went for my cake tasting, it was so hard to choose what flavor to have for my wedding cake. So, what did I do? I got a different flavor for every tier of the cake! I am not alone on giving variety at the wedding. Choosing a different flavor for every tier has become one of the biggest trends for 2008. I loved this idea because it gives your guests some variety and allows you to venture out of the realm of vanilla buttercream and experience something new. One thing you should keep in mind is that traditionally the cake is cut from the bottom tier. So… if you or your fiancé are cake smashers, then I recommend going with a flavor that will not stain as much on that tier. Stay away from jams and jellies or other stain prone ingredients, unless you want that beautiful dress to have a big stain in the front!

2008 Wedding Trend Alert!~ Show off that Waist!

waist

Brides everywhere were flocking towards the trapeze style dresses but not anymore! The big thing this year is showing off that sexy waist. You have worked so hard to get into great shape for your wedding. So…why not show it off? The Spring 2008 Fashion Week showcased one thing in particular, the cinched waist. Models were adorned and accented with wide belts that allowed them to show off their mid section. Look for wedding dresses to follow suit, with a reinvigoration of the obi belt, and contrasting color sashes.

Pressed-Flower Plates from Martha Stewart.com

plates

For a reception, brighten plain dinnerware with a sprinkling of cheerful blooms that coordinate beautifully with your centerpieces. All you need is a collection of pressed dried flowers (available at crafts-supply stores, floral shops, and online boutiques) to complete this temporary transformation — an ideal makeover for rental place settings. Arrange the flowers (we used cosmos, larkspur, marigolds, and verbena) on chargers, then cover them with clear glass plates. Place cards, featuring a pressed bloom attached with double-sided tape, tie it all together. For maximum impact, we set our colorful floral motif against a white backdrop. source

Elegant Pearl Monogram

Add an extra touch of elegance to your wedding with a beautiful monogram. A chic pearl monogram, tied with a satin bow and hanging from a sconce, will add personalization and style to your wedding. To make this stylish accent, simply string pearl beads onto 16-gauge wire and make loops at ends. Then shape the wire into a letter 20 inches tall. Secure the junctions with finer wire and you have a wonderful addition to your wedding.

If you are a chipoholic, then why not serve chips at your wedding? You can spice things up a bit by serving gourmet flavors or freshly made chips. Serve the chips in a stylish cone and you have a stylish snack that everyone is sure to love. Plus, you will be able to get your chip fix at your wedding!

Shells,Shells,Shells!

Perfect for a wedding by the ocean, these scallop shells clasp table designations as if bearing treasures from the sea. Guests pull out their cards to discover their table numbers, which are hidden behind the shells.

To get the fan-shaped mollusks to stand, we anchored them in polymer clay, then baked them in the oven. The result is sturdy enough to last for years; encourage guests to take the holders home as keepsakes and use them to display photographs.

Tools & Materials
All the materials for this project can be found at a crafts-supply store.

Polymer clay
Plexiglas craft roller
1 3/4-inch oval-shaped cutter
