I think you have to be careful because it can be overdone really easily. That is why I was so surprised when I fell in love with this garland idea from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oncewed.com\/index.cfm?postID=544\">Once Wed<\/a>. I think this would make a unique escort card display or the birds could be omitted or changed to a totally different design. I love the versatility of this project!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.bridalpartytees.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/steps-garland.jpg\" alt=\"steps garland\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>What You&#8217;ll Need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">One Bunch &#8220;Million Star&#8221; Gypsophilia (AKA Baby&#8217;s Breath) <em>Generally, a bunch is 10 &#8211; 12 stems, with multiple laterals on each stem)<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">One Spool Fabric Coated Wire<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Decorative Paper (3 or so coordinating sheets)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">String<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">A Sheet of Card Stock<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Floral Snips<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Scissors<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Small Hole Punch<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Pencil<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Computer and Printer<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Resources:<\/strong> Gypsophelia is a very common flower and available through any floral wholesale house, flower shop, or grocery store florist.\u00a0 There are many on-line resources as well.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fabric coated wire is available in the floral section of your craft store.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>Before you get started on the garland,\u00a0\u00a0unwrap your bunch of Gypsophelia, trim the stems and place in\u00a0warm water.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Allow the flowers to drink for a couple of hours before proceeding.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">1.\u00a0 Take your floral clippers, and trim all of the flower tufts off the end of the sprays, leaving just a little stem.\u00a0 (see figure 1)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">2.\u00a0 Cut a 7 foot length of fabric coated wire.\u00a0 \u00a0 Twist the end of the wire to make a little loop at the end.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">3.\u00a0 Take a tuft of Baby&#8217;s Breath, and lay it on your\u00a0support wire, just past the loop. \u00a0 Pick up your wire spool, and wrap the wire around the flower stem and support wire.\u00a0\u00a0 (see figure 2)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">4.\u00a0 Add another tuft, this time to the back side of the wire, and wrap again.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">5.\u00a0 Keep adding the flower tufts, alternating front and back, and work your way down the wire. (see figure 3)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">6.\u00a0 When you reach the end of the wire,\u00a0cut the spool away \u00a0and wrap the wire around the garland end several times to secure.\u00a0 Make a loop on the end with your support wire.\u00a0 Trim your flower stems to make the end of the garland tidy.\u00a0 (see figure 4)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>To keep your garland fresh, coil it up, mist it lightly with water, and place it inside a plastic garbage bag.\u00a0 Put it in your refrigerator, or in the coolest spot available.\u00a0\u00a0 It should\u00a0stay fresh\u00a0for 24-48 hours depending where you keep it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">7.\u00a0 Print out the <font color=\"#ff6666\">bird template(see below)<\/font> on a sheet of \u00a0card stock.\u00a0\u00a0 Cut out the birds, and trace them onto your decorative paper. ( I used 10 pairs for a six foot garland)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">8.\u00a0\u00a0 Cut all of your birds out, and punch a small hole in the middle of each bird&#8217;s back.\u00a0 (see figure 5)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">9.\u00a0 Cut a length of string about 14 inches long, and tie a bird to each end.\u00a0(see figure 6)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">10.\u00a0 Hang your garland from the wire loop ends and hang your birds over the garland, spacing them evenly apart.\u00a0(see figure 7)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>What it Cost:<\/strong>\u00a0 (to make one six foot garland)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">1 bunch of\u00a0Baby&#8217;s \u00a0Breath = $8.50 (from a wholesale florist)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">3 Sheets of Paper = $1.80<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Spool of Fabric Coated Wire = $2<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">String = $1.50<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oncewed.com\/images\/spacer.gif\" width=\"1\" border=\"0\" height=\"25\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oncewed.com\/images\/content\/bird.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"subtitle\">Download bird.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/BridalPartyTees\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.bridalpartytees.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/twitter1gif.gif\" alt=\"Twitter\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; I have to say that I am not a huge fan of garland.
